A few years into opening a brewery and things weren’t looking good for Mike and Dave. The business was nowhere near profitable, checks were bouncing and they were forced to start selling non-crucial brewing equipment to make ends meet.
Up until that point, they had filtered all of their beer using a DE filter – filtering was common practice at the time – and they made the difficult decision to sell it off, even though that meant changing the brewing process. Mike and Dave tasked their brand new head brewer, Nate Walser, with the challenge and, his ingenuity coupled with the freedom from the filter gave our beer that full-flavored impact that we are still known for today. Necessity truly is the mother of invention or, in our case, the mother of resurgence.
