Looking for a cool, unique local shopping experience? Join us Saturday, December 18 from 12-5pm for a Holiday Artist Market featuring art and goods by our very own employees: Gale Mason, Chris Hurst, Jess Wood, Rico Phillips and Liz Wood!
Gale Mason: Artist and Digital Creator behind GEM FINE ART. In 2018, Gale shifted to Digital Art made with iPad Pro, Apple Pencil, and the app Procreate. With the expansion of digital brushes and textural add ons like Paperlike, fiber optic paint brushes, and digital canvas’, an entire world of creative possibilities unlocked. Now she can interact with Digital Art in a way that feels more natural.
She has worked with watercolor, acrylic, and recently pushed into the space of digital oil painting. Generally her practice involves loose paint strokes, multiple layers and textures, or hyper-realistic renderings. Her vision is to fuse fine art with Digital Art by layering and mixing digital media and print media.
Gale lives in downtown Detroit with her boyfriend and two Siberian huskies. She feels fortunate to have the opportunity to encounter, connect, and experience local art every day – Detroit is ripe with historical art and architecture, magnificent cathedrals with ornamental stained glass, music, murals and street art. From the mundane to the prophetic, if you want to experience art, Detroit is the place.
Jess Wood: Jess is a pure Detroit artist-born and raised. She is a multi-media artist and photographer with no limitations on working mediums. Jess will try any style of art at least once.
Rico Phillips: Rico is a photographer and will be selling his original print collection.
Liz Wood: Creator of Shattered Works. Liz is 33 years old and graduated from Grand Valley State University in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Printmaking. She started off in printmaking but has branched out into multi media. She experiments with destruction, creating beauty in something broken.
