Ever wonder why Founders is called ‘Founders?’ Years and years (and years) ago, when Mike and Dave decided to open up a brewery, their first step was securing a location. They had their eye on a historic building in downtown Grand Rapids, MI and, after speaking with the property developer, they learned some interesting information about the space.

It started in 2009. Our Brewmaster, Jeremy Kosmicki, wanted a beer that was easy to drink, light in alcohol, yet just as flavorful as a full-bodied IPA. Double Trouble, the imperial IPA that was brewed to turn your world upside down has returned and it now has its very own Untappd badge!

When we opened our doors in downtown Grand Rapids, MI almost 21 years ago, we made a commitment that all would be welcome in our taproom, no matter class, race, gender or sexual orientation. Beer brings people together and we wanted our taproom to reflect that.

I love going for long hikes and enjoying all the beauty the Mitten State has to offer, but it can be really disappointing to see litter or old bonfire remnants in the middle of an otherwise pristine view. Congrats to our four winners! Thanks to everyone that participated and introduced Solid Gold to a craft beer newbie.
Happy (almost) National Homebrew Day, everyone! To celebrate the Big Brew, we’re sharing an American ESB recipe from our Barrel House Brewer, Matt Blodgett, from his very own homebrew recipe collection.
Creating the label for Dankwood was just as much an exercise in experimentation as creating the beer itself.
Calling new and seasoned homebrewers alike!
