Founders Canoe Marathoners

We sponsored a local father-son, first-year team for the 2011 AuSable River Canoe Marathon, a 120+ mile overnight race in Northern Michigan that starts at 9pm in Grayling and ends in Oscoda, where the AuSable River meets Lake Huron. They finished first in the rookie division with a time of 16 hours and 58 mins. Nice work, Matt and Mike Savoie!

Announcing International #IPADay: A Social Celebration of Craft Beer

San Diego, CA – July 7, 2011 – Attention all craft beer evangelists, brewers, bloggers, and suds-savvy citizens! On Thursday, August 4, 2011, you are cordially invited to participate in the largest international craft beer celebration and virtual conversation the world has ever seen.

 

International #IPADay is a grassroots movement to unite the voices of craft beer enthusiasts, bloggers, and brewers worldwide through social media. On Thursday August 4, craft beer drinkers across the social sphere and across the globe will raise pints in a collective toast to one of craft beer’s most iconic styles: the India Pale Ale. This celebrated style represents the pinnacle of brewing innovation with its broad spectrum of diverse brands, subcategories, and regional flavor variations–making it the perfect style to galvanize craft beer’s social voice.

 

#IPADay is not the brainchild of a corporate marketing machine, nor is it meant to serve any particular beer brand. #IPADay is an opportunity for breweries, bloggers, businesses, and consumers to connect and share their love of craft beer. Getting involved is easy; the only requirements are an appreciation for great beer and the will to spread the word. Anyone can participate by enjoying IPA with friends, making some noise online with the #IPADay hashtag, and showing the world that craft beer is more than a trend!

 

Tips on How to Take Part:

  1. Organize an #IPADay event at your brewery, brewpub, restaurant, bar, home, or office (Ex:  An IPA dinner/cheese pairing/comparative or educational tasting/cask night/tap takeover…). Share your events on the official #IPADay forum at http://www.ratebeer.com.
  2. On August 4, share your photos, videos, blog posts, tasting notes, recipes, and thoughts with the world. Be sure to include the #IPADay hashtag in your posts Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, WordPress, RateBeer, Foursquare, Gowalla, Yelp, Untappd, or any other social media site.
  3. See what other people are saying by searching “#IPADay” on Google, search.twitter.com, et cetera…
  4. Track down your favorite IPAs, those that you’ve been meaning to try, and those you’ve never heard of; share them with friends and share your thoughts with the world.
  5. Have a good time and know that by sharing your experiences online, you’re strengthening the craft beer community at large.

Yo Founders!

I just wanted to send you a brief email to tell you that I love your beer. In fact I love KBS so much that I actually brought a bottle to Africa on my honeymoon last year. My wife thought I was nuts bringing beer all the way to Africa, but I wanted it to be the perfect trip. A year later she is now a beer geek and totally gets it. Attached are two pictures of the beer and some elephants that were at a near by watering hole in the background. Your beer is excellent. Keep it up.

Founders Fest Last Minute Info!

Just over 48 hours remain before our biggest party of the year: Founders Fest!

Scroll past the photo of the extra tall Backwoods Bastard that showed up last year to find answers to all of your last minute questions (if you have any others, please feel free to post them in the comments, and we’ll respond ASAP).

TICKETS

  1. Advanced ONLINE ticket sales have ended (there is no longer enough time left before the event to mail tickets out).
  2. Advanced IN PERSON tickets will be available through the end of day Friday at both our Taproom and our Company Store ($15).
  3. All remaining tickets will be sold at full price ($20), on Saturday, AFTER the event begins at 3pm.

You cannot purchase tickets over the phone and put them on will call.  You either had to buy advanced tickets online, in person, or wait until the event begins and pay full price.

Everyone attending Founders Fest has to be at least AGE 21. No exceptions!

Current Mug Club Members may purchase ONE ticket for themselves in advance, here in person in the Taproom, or on the day of the festival AFTER it begins at 3pm.

All Ticket Sales are final. There are no refunds, exchanges, etc.

RULES

Re-entry is allowed but not guaranteed. We will allow people to re-enter only if they have a valid wristband and hand-stamp, and if our capacity allows it. Attendees assume the risk of not being able to re-enter once they leave.

The following items are not allowed:

  • Pets
  • Outside food and beverage (water is OK)
  • Vehicles of any kind (bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, etc.)
  • Illegal substances
  • Bad attitudes

Collapsible camp chairs are allowed, but cannot be set up directly in front of the stage. Violators are subject to removal from the event without refund.

BEER

We will have the following beers on draft…plus a few surprises!

PARKING

Our parking lots will be closed during Founders Fest, so please plan ahead for parking. Ellis Parking will have the following lots available: 100 Grandville, Grandville/Oakes, Custer, Avis and 90 Market. Check their online map to locate these. Other street parking is available through the city. You can also contact a local cab service to drop you off at the festival and pick you up after; two options are Calder City Taxi (616.454.8080) and Yellow Cab (616.459.4646).
