Open Positions

POSITION: Director of Finance

DEPARTMENT: Finance

JOB SUMMARY:
Provides expert financial advice, guidance and counsel supporting business objectives and decisions. Researches, evaluates and interprets financial data using advanced and emerging financial techniques and tools. Design and implementation of complex corporate/finance projects including preparing cost justification, proposals and risk assessments.

  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Responsible for coordinating, conducting, and maintaining internal control documentation, including narratives, flowcharts and risk matrixes; assessment of controls; recommending and verifying implementation of control gap remediation plans; and reporting conclusions regarding the effectiveness of the Company’s internal controls over financial reporting
  • Leads, facilitates and monitors the financial segment of complex projects/and department initiatives
  • Acts as the primary liaison with assigned business partners to ensure successful achievement of objectives and goals
  • Conducts research activities to determine and communicate financial implications resulting from varied company initiatives
  • Forecast cash flow positions, related borrowing needs, and available funds for investment
  • Communicate and implement budgets to various departments, updating on an ongoing basis
  • Consolidates monthly financial reporting and review costs and variance
  • Prepares complex account analysis and general ledger reconciliations including the tracking of fixed assets
  • Manages and coordinates with external auditor consultants in preparation of annual financial audits
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate filing of federal, state and local tax returns. Participates in federal, state and local tax audits and prepares work papers for the Internal Revenue Service on tax audit issues
  • Engage in ongoing cost reduction analysis in all areas of the company
  • Review the performance of competitors and report on key issues to management
  • Engage in benchmarking studies to establish areas of potential operational improvement
  • Manage keg and hop inventory
  • Create additional analysis and reports are requested by management

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent business experience with 10+ years of progressively responsible experience. Preference will be given to candidates with CPA or CMA designations.

POSITION: Vice President of Marketing

DEPARTMENT: Marketing

JOB SUMMARY:
Overall responsibility and accountability for Marketing and Brand Management. Focus includes management of marketing team as well as brand and marketing strategy and execution across all platforms.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establishes strategic marketing plans designed to achieve corporate objectives for products and the overall branding of the organization.
  • Develops and executes comprehensive marketing plans and programs, both short and long range, to support sales and revenue objectives of the organization.
  • Overall management, promotion, protection, and documentation of company brand.
  • Manages all marketing staff including the Events Coordinator, Communications Manager, Creative Manager, Project Manager, Graphic Designer, and Marketing Coordinator positions to ensure goals are being met (a job description for each is available for review).
  • Develops and manages the marketing department operating budget.
  • Researches, analyzes, and monitors financial, technological, and demographic factors to capitalize on market opportunities and minimize effects of competitive activity.
  • Oversees advertising and promotion activities including print, digital, social media, multi-media, and other messaging platforms.
  • Oversees all company communication and public relations
  • Responsible for management of cross functional projects for the company
  • Responsible for managing all graphic design including cases, promotional materials, labels, etc.
  • Responsible for managing all events, sponsorships, and donations
  • Works closely with the sales department to evaluate, recommend, and develop POS, promotional materials, and distribution channel development programs.
  • Determines agencies and suppliers of record, and negotiates contract terms and conditions for major services.
  • Develops and recommends product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share.
  • Ensures effective control of marketing results, and takes corrective action to guarantee that achievement of marketing objectives falls within designated budgets.
  • Oversees and evaluates market research and adjusts marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
  • Monitors competitive products and marketing activities. Consistently provides feedback and opportunities to management team.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key community and strategic partners.
  • Resolves conflicts and facilitates changes in structure of marketing staff and agencies/suppliers of record to ensure objective fulfillment and swift response to marketing problems and opportunities.
  • Conducts marketing surveys on current and new product concepts or packaging, and provides feedback for future product or package development.
  • Guides preparation of marketing activity reports, dashboard, and other deliverables as requested by executive management.
  • Establishes and maintains a consistent brand image throughout all product lines, promotional materials, and events.
  • Responsible for employee goal setting, measurement, and feedback.

QUALIFICATIONS OR SKILLS REQUIRED:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university and a minimum 10+ years related marketing experience including development and marketing of a national brand.

POSITION: Southern Michigan Market Manager

DEPARTMENT: Sales

JOB SUMMARY:
Establish and maintain a professional sales relationship with wholesalers and key retailers within the assigned territory.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports Founders Brewing Company Core Values and Purpose
  • Maintains constant communication with the Regional Sales Director.
  • Works directly with the assigned Founders Brewing Company territory wholesaler and their sales staff to promote the sale of the brand.
  • Maintains consistent market visitation schedule between all assigned territories; work quarterly target account list and visitation schedule including chain and independent of and off premise accounts.
  • Develops quarterly target lists built from goals and objectives.
  • Must be able to analyze and develop sales opportunity from VIP software or other company provided sales/CRM software.
  • Manages wholesaler direction; develop and maintain positive relationships with retail accounts.
  • Monitors beer inventory to maintain proper amounts based on sales trends, promotions, and seasonal changes; monitor product for freshness.
  • Holds monthly sales and marketing meetings at assigned distributors.
  • Conducts ongoing brand training.
  • Develops ride schedule with assigned wholesaler reps.
  • Attains pre-determined sales and distribution goals.
  • Assists at all special events and festivals in the territory.
  • Ensures proper and timely ordering of POS with wholesalers.
  • Ensures timely completion and accuracy of all reports submitted by wholesalers.
  • Performs administrative tasks as they are assigned (expense reports, monthly work calendar, build wholesaler sales programs, establish distribution targets, evaluate discount programs, conduct price surveys).
  • Assists in creating volume projections and marketing budgets; ensure compliance is maintained.
  • Maintains professional image and demeanor at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS OR SKILLS REQUIRED:
Successful candidate must live in the market for which Market Manager is responsible for, must have reliable car and be able to travel and have the ability to work a flexible schedule and ability work some week-ends.  Two years minimum experience working in the three tier distribution system either with a beer wholesaler or beer supplier is a must and must have strong knowledge of craft beer industry and its retail consumers.  Candidate must be knowledgeable of Founders Brewing Company brands and procedures, be draft beer knowledgeable, and have experience with sales data writing, reporting, and analysis as well as experience with sales/CRM software.

POSITION: Quality Control Lab Technician

SHIFT: Must be available days, nights, and week-ends

DEPARTMENT: Quality

JOB SUMMARY:
To assists the quality department in various tasks, and provide real time information on the health and integrity of beer production.

  • Conducts basic tests (microbial and chemical) on all primary fermentation samples
  • Record and interpret analytical test results.
  • Perform media preparation for micro testing.
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment.
  • Assist in running and tracking data related to sensory panels.
  • Maintain a product retention sample library.
  • Sustain a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform various duties for the Quality Department throughout the Brewery.
  • Any other duties may be assigned by leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Basic knowledge and experience in a lab environment is required (school lab time or work). Experience in food or sanitary industry preferred. HS Diploma and 2-3 years of related experience. Bachelor of Science degree is preferred.

POSITION:  Cellar Operator

SHIFT:  Must be available days, nights, and week-ends

DEPARTMENT:  Cellar

JOB SUMMARY:
Assists in the beer making process by performing the following duties:

  • Perform duties necessary to maintain a clean and sanitary fermentation cellar.
  • Follow established SOP’s toward accomplishing all needs associated in processing from receipt of wort from brewhaus through fermentation process to finished and ready to package beer.
  • Clean and maintain all cold side brewing equipment through packaging tank.
  • Maintain and improve overall sanitation and safety levels of brewery.
  • Monitor fermentation profiles, progress, and temperatures of vessels and glycol system.
  • Contribute to brewing process as directed in adding of various ingredients to beer.
  • Participate in all factors of wooden barrel brewing procedures.
  • Assist other departments when time allows.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Good candidates must fit in with our enthusiastic and hardworking team environment, be a great communicator, and possess a mechanical aptitude.  Candidates should be serious about safety, quality and cleanliness.  Candidates need to be able to lift up to 100 pounds, be able to twist and turn, be able to reach over your shoulders, and work in standing/walking/ crouching position at a steady pace and love to clean.  Experience in sanitary food or beverage processing is a definite plus.  Constant cleaning and frequent maintenance is required.  Availability to work days, nights, and weekends is necessary.

POSITION: Warehouse Driver

SHIFT: Must be available 7 days per week – 1st/2nd/3rd shifts                      

DEPARTMENT: Warehouse

JOB SUMMARY:
Drives gasoline or diesel powered tractor trailer combination to transport and deliver products, or materials in liquid, loose, or packaged form by performing the following duties:

  • Drives truck to destination;
  • Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition;
  • Maintains driver log according to I.C. regulations;
  • Assists in loading and unloading truck;
  • Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area;
  • Operates a Hi-Lo;
  • Complies with all safe operating instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Good candidates must fit in with our enthusiastic and hardworking team environment, be a great communicator, and must be detailed oriented.  Candidates need to be able to lift up to 100 pounds, be able to twist and turn, be able to reach over your shoulders, and work in standing/walking/crouching position at a steady pace.  Candidates must have a Class B CDL License for a box truck as well as a Hi-Lo license.  (Hi-Lo license can be obtained via training at Founders).  Candidates must have a good driving history and license record.  Experience working in shipping and receiving is a plus.

POSITION: Packaging Machine Operator

SHIFT: Must be available 7 days per week – 1st/2nd/3rd shifts                      

DEPARTMENT: Packaging 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Tends machines that perform one or more packaging functions such as filling, marking, labeling, banding, tying, packing, or wrapping containers by performing the following duties:

  • Starts machine and observes operation to detect malfunctions of machine;
  • Stops machine and reports malfunctions to Head or Lead Packing Machine Operator;
  • Makes minor adjustments or repairs such as opening valves, setting guides, or clearing away damaged product or containers;
  • Inspects filled containers to ensure that product is packaged according to specifications;
  • Feeds product to conveyors, hoppers, or other feeding devices;
  • Unloads packaged products;
  • Replenishes packaging supplies such as wrapping paper, boxes, cartons, glue, ink, or labels.
  • Mounts supplies on spindles or places supplies in hopper or other feeding devices.

QUALIFICATIONS OR SKILLS REQUIRED:
